ProStorInfiniVault Feature Brief Storage Designed for Terabyte-Years

Part of any good IT plan is to look to future needs, taking in to account data growth and technology obsolescence. Too often, new products which are purchased are well on their way to becoming obsolete the moment they're taken out of the box. This is not the case with ProStor InfiniVault.

The award-winning InfiniVault system takes advantage of ProStor's RDX removable disk technology which has an archive life of >30 years, as tested to international Ecma standards. RDX disks backward and forward compatibility within the InfiniVault means that as data grows, RDX disks can be removed from the system and replaced with new, empty RDX disks of any capacity without needing to add new controllers or drive mechanisms. Add the capacity needed, without having to invest in new system infrastructure.

Problem solved! Scalable

There's a different-sized infiniVault system for every-sized business need so that administrators can consolidate and expand backup, archive and compliance into a single platform. Small businesses and departments can purchase a tower model for single application access. Medium to large businesses can purchase a rack-mountable model with more RDX slots, which can be added in groups of 10, up to 100 slots per system controller, providing near-line and offline data protection for multiple applications

System Components

The InfiniVault systems was built with efficiency and value in mind.

  •  The System Controller runs the operating system and the built-in storage management system.
  • RAID-protected File Area provides online near-term data protection, redundancy, and high-performance data access in each of the models.
  • RDX disks are virtualized behind the RAID-protected online disk allowing inactive data to be removed from the system while still appearing online to applications and users.

Easy to Install

A web-based management console provides a simple, easy-to-use interface and was designed for trouble-free customer installation. If desired, customers can purchase installation services from Third Wind Technologies to augment their resources and get up and running even quicker.

Technology Benefits

With over 130 petabytes of data stored on RDX disks today, RDX is the market leader in removable storage. Organizations can trust that the technology is here to stay. The reason that RDX has world-wide acceptance is cost-savings benefits such as:

  • RDX uses less energy: when not in use, the RDX disks are powered down, thus reducing power and cooling costs.
  • RDX disks are cost effective: capacities can be intermixed, and the interface will remain compatible well into the future such that organizations can purchase the latest capacity cartridge at the current best market price.
  • RDX is built to last: each RDX cartridge has a 30-year shelf life and protection against drops and static electricity.
